Date nights are SO important to us! My fiancé and I are workaholics which make us truly enjoy the time we spend together. During the weekdays, if I’m not traveling, by the time he gets home, we cook, eat, and clean. By that time we have about an hour left to spend together but we’re usually exhausted and just want to lay around on the couch. What I’m trying to say is that we LOVE our weekends and choose how we spend them wisely 🙂
Here are some of our favorite at-home date night ideas –
Game night!
Anyone that knows us as a couple knows that we LOVE our game nights. They are our THANG, especially card games. My cousin got me HOOKED on Monopoly Deal. No, not hooked… OBSESSED. I have probably forced over 40+ people to play with me within a month of learning. The only downside of game night is that I win preeeeetty often and my fiance doesn’t love that 😉
Movie marathon
We’re not huge TV people but we do love our movie nights. Back in the good old days (before quarantine) we would use our AMC movie tickets to watch whatever is on during matinee at our favorite movie theatre (with recliner chairs of course) on the weekend mornings. NOW, Harry Potter runs all day on Freeform on Sundays so when we feel like having lazy days, we’ll have a “date day” and will watch them. Obviously not all of them, because we’ll go insane sitting on the couch that long.
Bake together
If you don’t typically make desserts together, try baking and try something new you wouldn’t typically make! I’ve seen tons of people making macarons lately and I’m loving it. We’ve been on a chocolate chip cookie kick lately (in-between our frequent brownie kick of course).
Cocktail contest
I saw this date night idea on Pinterest once and loved it. Have a cocktail making contest! Create a new cocktail recipe or make your fav cocktail and judge whose drink is better. Worst case, they’re all awful and you just get drunk.
Backyard picnic
How cute is it to pack a sweet lunch, grab your favorite bottle of wine, and enjoy a meal in your backyard? Play music (to drown out your fur baby barking) and just relax like you’re sitting in a jardin in Paris.
Camping in your living room
I’m just going to throw it out there… I’m an awesome fort builder! Partially because I have a baby sister that also loves fort building. Have a romantic date night and change up your normal scenery by sleeping somewhere other than your bed!
Quarantine Bonus – Candlelit dinner
We’re in an interesting time now that we can’t eat out at restaurants so we’ve been ordering take out from our favorite restaurants, making martinis and just enjoying each other’s company at our dining room table. (We often just eat quick meals at the island so it kind of is a change of scenery for us). Looking for our favorite take out around Seattle? Check ours out here!

It’s a bit hard to organize a date night and make it special when you live together for a long time. All the things we love like movies and board games we do anyway!
